The Creator Tip No One Talks About
What changed my son's life as a content creator and why it might change yours too.
So much of creator life happens indoors. You’re editing alone. Posting alone. Stressing about algorithms, reach, and rates. Alone.
But this industry was never meant to be built in isolation.
Last week, my son Alexander was invited to the YouTube Creator Collective meetup in Jersey City.
And it changed everything.
If you're new here, Alexander is 9. On @alexcubednyc he makes videos about cubing, gaming, and whatever else 9-12 year-olds like. He gets recognized at the park and he keeps asking me when I’m going to introduce him to Colin and Samir and Mr. Beast. (Umm guys call me?)
But the highlight of his week?
The College Cuber, a legend in the space, commented on his video and subscribed to his channel.
You know where that moment started?
At the meetup.
We had RSVP’d for the NYC Creator Collective too, but something told me to grab a spot in Jersey City just in case. On a Friday night, with perfect weather, we hopped on the PATH and crossed the river.
He was the only kid there. It was his first meetup.
But it will not be his last.
Because no matter how good your content is, this industry runs on connection.
You cannot build a sustainable creator career without community.
And community starts when you show up.
So if you’ve been feeling stuck, burnt out, or invisible, step away from the ring light and go find your people.
Attend the panel. Go to the launch. Say hi to the person next to you.
The algorithm might not notice, but the right person will.
And that’s who matters.
Need some direction before you show up?
I just opened a few more spots for Spring audits this May.
