The right connection is worth more than the perfect pitch.
Let’s talk about the network behind the opportunity.
Your Network Is Your Net Worth
And the best time to build it is before you need it.
Welcome to Monday's topic inside Suite Intelligence.
This series is about making connections, the art of self-promotion, and helping people learn how to help you. Whether you’re pitching a brand or introducing yourself in a DM, this is the space where we get better at being known.
I kicked off Social Media Week NYC today and within five minutes I was hugging old friends, finally meeting longtime online connections in person, and watching my LinkedIn feed come to life.
I caught up with Jessy Grossman after years of online-only contact and finally met Lia Haberman, Lindsey Gamble, Brett Dashevsky, and Tara Knight in real life.
If you’re not following them on LinkedIn, you should be. This is the level of conversation you want in your feed.
And this was just day one.
I’m speaking tomorrow at 11:15 AM, so if you’re in the building, come say hi.
Most people wait until they need something to build their network 🪂
Please don’t be most people.
Anyone you want to meet is right there. A follow away. A comment away. A DM away.
LinkedIn, Substack, and even Instagram can be more than content channels. They can be connection channels if you use them with intention.
One of the books that shaped how I think about building and nurturing a network is Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi. It was published in 2005, updated in 2014, and still feels like it was written for 2025. The mindset is timeless and I reread it every time I want to hibernate instead of going to all the things.
When I graduated college, I was working as an agent-in-training by day, running the books and floors at some of New York’s top restaurants by night, and using every spare moment to build my award-nominated NYC nightlife blog. That blog ran from 2007 to 2011 and opened doors I didn’t even know existed.
One week I was covering parties hosted by Fabolous and Paris Hilton. The next, I was going to 50-plus shows during New York Fashion Week. The icing on the cake? Getting flown to Germany to hang out with Rihanna on the Nivea cruise ship.
Both of my first jobs in influencer marketing, building the departments at Horizon Media and Hearst Magazines, came from people I met during those early blogging years. I had a degree in journalism, a few law school chapters behind me, and the boldness to introduce myself to people “out of my league.”
If young me were around today, her motto would be: delulu is the solulu.
And now? My son is already learning these lessons.
He’s figuring out how to get in the room with Colin and Samir and MrBeast, and he’s asking smart questions about how to turn introductions into relationships.
This isn’t just a career advantage. It’s a life skill.
You're only six degrees from everyone in the world ⚛️
But sometimes, you're only one or two. Especially because you know me.
And I know a lot of people.
That’s why inside my final season of one-to-one coaching, I’m helping creators think beyond content and into positioning. That includes PR strategy, press list targeting, and how to start getting invited to the events where deals are made. From panels and dinners to brand campaigns, we can talk about how to make yourself easy to cast.
The final day to purchase private strategy time with me is May 31.
If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to book or just want the option in your back pocket, this is it.

Your Monday mission 💌
Write down one person you want to connect with this week.
Someone you admire. Someone you’re curious about. Someone you’ve lost touch with.
Then go do it. Send the message. Make the intro. Leave the thoughtful comment.
The doors you’re trying to open might already be unlocked.
You just have to knock.
Let’s build something real.
